A level 3 qualification is equivalent to an advanced technical certificate or diploma, or A levels. Eligibility Criteria You may be eligible for a free level 3 qualification if you meet any of the following criteria: You are 19 or over and do not already possess a level 3 qualification. You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£20,319 from April 2023). You already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are currently unemployed. It’s important to note that the low wage threshold may vary in some areas, so be sure to check with your local training provider to determine the threshold in your specific location. Available Courses A wide range of courses is currently available in various fields, including but not limited to: Accounting and Finance Agriculture Building and Construction Business Management Childcare and Early Years Digital Engineering Environmental Conservation Health and Social Care Horticulture and Forestry Hospitality and Catering Manufacturing Technologies Mathematics and Statistics Medicine and Dentistry Public Services Science Teaching and Lecturing Transportation Operations and Maintenance Warehousing and Distribution How to Apply The application process for these free level 3 qualifications is straightforward: Use the National Careers Service course finder to discover available courses in your local area or online. Contact your chosen college or training provider to confirm the qualification’s availability, check admission criteria, and apply for the course. If accepted, you won’t have to pay any course fees, and additional assistance may be available for childcare, travel, and other associated costs. Alternatively, you can visit your local college’s or provider’s website to explore the full list of available free level 3 qualification places. Additional Support for Career Development If you’re between 19 and 23 years old, you have the opportunity to access additional qualifications for free through the National Careers Service. Claimants of Universal Credit can apply for these free courses, provided it enhances their employability. For those on Universal Credit, full-time training for up to 16 weeks is currently allowed, with continued benefit claims.
